Objectives:

  1. Select an assessment tool to use in your classroom.
  2. Create a pre and post test to add to your next learning menu.

Suggested Timeline: 1 week

Stage 3:

Assess Learning Needs

  • Step 1: Explore assessments in Gooru.

    • Gooru allows teachers to share their assessments publicly, copy them and modify or “remix” them. (Note: no student data is public.)

    • Go to the Gooru site (you do not have to be logged in), and search for a topic at the top of the page in the search window.

      • On the next window select “Assessments” to view tests made and shared by other teachers.

      • Limit your results by grade, subject and/or standards.

Objective 1: Select an assessment tool to use in your classroom.

  • Step 2: If you like the Gooru assessment, select Remix and you will be prompted to create an account so that you can modify and save the assessment.

  • Step 3: Select the tool that works best for you and your classroom: Gooru, Google Forms or a tool you are already utilizing.

    • If you decide to use google forms, be sure to see these quiz templates to copy and modify.

Objective 2: Create a pre and post test to add to your next learning menu.

  • Step 1: Once you’ve selected an assessment tool, create or remix assessments so that you have a pre and post test for your next learning menu.

  • Step 2: Add the pre and post test links to your Learning Menu. (See the photosynthesis sample with the pre and post tests.)

  • Step 3: Have all students take the post-test on the learning menu when you feel the class is ready. Note that in the final stage of implementation, students will determine when they are ready for the assessment.

Congratulations! You've completed Stage 3. Move on to Stage 4: Provide Data Driven Small Group Instruction.
