Personalized ELA Prototype
Purpose - Why would I want to implement this personalized ELA prototype?
Welcome to MDC's personalized ELA Prototype implementation guide. We have created a comprehensive, personalized instructional prototype that can be implemented in any technology enabled classroom. We recommend implementing this prototype if:

-
You want to explore personalized learning, but you are not sure what it looks like in practice
-
Rather than design a personalized model from scratch, you prefer to test something others have tried
-
You have been using technology in your class, but you feel it is not meeting the needs of all students
-
You want to give students more control over their learning experience
Minimum Requirements - Do I meet the requirements for this prototype?
Prior to moving forward in this guide to implement the ELA prototype, please read through the requirements carefully to confirm your eligibility to run this prototype.

-
You teach at least one period of ELA per day.
-
You have at least a 1:3 device to student ratio available for every period you will run the prototype.
-
You have flexibility/autonomy to modify your own lesson plans and assessments.
-
Your classroom periods for ELA are a minimum of 55 minutes long.
-
You have a enough copies of a class novel for each student or a leveled classroom library.
-
You have a basic familiarity with classroom devices.

Scope - How will this guide help me implement a PL Prototype?
Our goal is to give you all the guidance you need to implement a PL prototype. This site specifically will:
-
Overview. Provide an overview of the personalized learning prototype experience for students.
-
Implementation. Walk you through each stage of implementing the prototype.
-
Metrics. Define a set of metrics for you to track the effectiveness of your PL prototype.
-
Tips. Suggest tips for increasing the level of personalization and rigor of your prototype.
-
Resources. Provide resources to suppport your implementation.
Congratulations! If you meet all the requirements and are invested in the purpose of this prototype, you are ready to move forward.
