Performance Gap Analysis

Objectives:

  • Identify three SPF measures you would like to radically improve

  • Using your SQR and Transformation Diagnostic, identify 3 underlying challenges or root causes to fix in order to improve your SPF indicators

  • Using your SQR and Transformation Diagnostic, identify 3 strengths to leverage in improving SPF Indicators

Open your SPF scorecard report.  Alliance SPF   Elmhurst SPF   Emerson SPF    Westlake SPF

 

Individually: (5 minutes)

  • Select 3 SPF measures and subgroups you would want to radically improve in 2-3 years, e.g. going from a 1 to a 5 score. Write each one on a separate post it note with a reason.

As a group: (15 minutes)

  • Post your picks on the wall, group common picks, discuss your reasons, and decide as a team the top three measures and subgroups performance you will radically improve through this transformation effort.

 

Document Management:  

  • Have the document manager on your team type your SPF measure selections and subgroups into your transformation plan in Section 1D. 

  • Have the documentation manager Input the same information into your progress tracker in rows 7-9, in columns  C, F, G, H, I, J on the Expected Outcomes tab

 

For now, you only need type trough notes into your plan. Over the next couple weeks you will write a more formal explanation of the measures you chose in complete sentences.

Select a Report

Split your team into two subgroups, A and B. Each team will review a different report:

Group A:   Alliance SQR                Elmhurst SQR                        Emerson SQR                 Westlake SQR

Group B:   Alliance Diagnostic      Elmhurst Diagnostic             Emerson Diagnostic

In your separate subgroups: (15 minutes)

Review your assigned report, SQR or Diagnostic. On a simple t-chart poster, identify and record the following from the report: 

  1. Strengths: (SQR > "Developing", Diagnostic = > 80 or < 10 pt gap between leaders and staff)

    • Record the domains and strand (no more than 3)

    • Record the relevant insights or feedback underneath

  2. Challenges: (SQR = "Undeveloped", Diagnostic = < 60 or >20 pt gap between leaders and staff)

    • Record the domains and strands (no more than 3)

    • Record the relevant insights or feedback underneath

Step 2:

Record Your Findings

As a whole school team: (15 minutes)

  1. Share your findings from each report. As a team:

    • Pick the top 3 challenges across both reports that you will focus on addressing with this transformation 

    • Discuss potential root causes for each challenge
    • Explain how each challenge relates to your selected SPF improvement measures

Document Management​

  • While the team discusses its top 3 challenges, relation to the SPF, and root causes, document the notes in Section 1D of the transformation plan

  • In the progress tracker, copy-paste the notes into rows 12-14 in the appropriate sections
